It has been a very exciting year at Building Maps! In addition to business as usual – creating and maintaining fire evacuation maps for organizations throughout the United States – we’ve been on the road all summer learning about school safety and connecting with industry professionals.
Corpus Christi, TX
In mid-June, members of our team traveled from our offices in West Michigan to Corpus Christi, TX for the annual Texas School Safety Conference. This was our second year attending the exposition. While exhibiting at this event, we were able to speak with existing clients as well as representatives from other school districts from throughout Texas interested in our services.
Vancouver, BC, Canada
Later that same week, we flew up to Vancouver, BC in Canada for the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators Conference and Exposition. We were able to speak with campus security experts from colleges and universities across the globe about campus safety.
Las Vegas, NV
By mid-July we were back on the road again – this time for a gathering in Las Vegas, NV. The National School Safety Conference was a great event. We had the opportunity to listen to a number of keynote speakers. Dr. Joseph Erardi, Supt. Newtown, CT (RET) spoke on his experiences during and after the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting in 2012. Additionally, the President of the School Safety Advocacy Council, Sean Burke, gave a presentation geared towards school resource officers (SROs) and administrators on proactively avoiding dangerous situations on campus.
